Anchorage is the most populated city within the state of Alaska. Minutes in any direction provide great opportunities for hunting, fishing, sight seeing, hiking, and just about anything you can imagine. Anchorage has a large variety of cultural restaurants and fine dining choices.
Fishing is a major attraction to Anchorage. Visitors come from all around the world to participate in the annual Salmon run. Within 1 hour in either direction, you can fish in some of the best fish producing rivers in the world.

Head to Girdwood, which is about 30 minutes west of Anchorage along the Seward Highway. It is home to the Alyeska Hotel.
